Workers’ compensation attorney named to the Georgia Advisory Committee of the United States Commission on Civil Rights

ATLANTA, GA, July 1, 2020: Bryan Ramos, the managing attorney at the Atlanta- based, workers’ compensation firm, Ramos Law Firm, was appointed to serve on the Georgia State Advisory Committee of the United States Commission on Civil Rights.

The function of the Georgia State Advisory is to assist the Commission with its fact- finding, investigative, and information dissemination functions. The Commission maintains 51 State Advisory Committees (SACs), one for each state and the District of Columbia. “As the State of Georgia has always played a critical role in the progression and protection of civil rights, this appointment is very meaningful to me, especially during this pivotal time in our nation’s history,” Mr. Ramos stated.

The Civil Rights Act of 1957 created the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Since then, Congress has reauthorized or extended the legislation creating the Commission several times; the last reauthorization was in 1994 by the Civil Rights Commission Amendments Act of 1994.

Established as an independent, bipartisan, fact-finding federal agency, its mission is to inform the development of national civil rights policy and enhance enforcement of federal civil rights laws. The Commission pursues this mission by studying alleged deprivations of voting rights and alleged discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, or national origin, or in the administration of justice. It plays a vital role in advancing civil rights through objective and comprehensive investigation, research, and analysis on issues of fundamental concern to the federal government and the public.

Mr. Ramos’ federal appointment to this Georgia State Advisory Committee will be for a term of service of four (4) years with a total duration of no more than eight (8) years.

The Ramos Law Firm is dedicated to serving and protecting Georgia’s working class since 2005.
