The widow of the late Dick Israel (Ricardo Vizcarra Michaca in real life) passed away Sunday, October 16, just five days after the veteran actor died.
Actress Vivian Velez, a family friend of the couple said Israel’s wife Marlyn Michaca has been in a comatose for two weeks due to aneurysm.
Velez said the couple were cremated together on October 18. She said the character actor was initially set to be cremated on October 16, but the date was moved following his wife’s death.
“Now, in each other’s arms for eternity,” Velez posted in her Facebook Account. Velez is also a member of Damay Kamay Foundation, an organization established by members of the entertainment industry to help their colleagues in need during medical emergencies.
Israel played villain and sidekick roles in Philippine movies. He was Best Supporting Actor in 1988 for his role in “Patrolman” at the Metro Manila Film Festival, and in 1995 for his portrayal in “Kanto Boy 2: Anak ni Totoy Guapo” at the FAMAS Awards, among others. He suffered a stroke in 2010.
Because of this, half of his body was paralyzed and his speech was impaired. He then sought the help of his colleagues in the industry after medical treatment drained his savings.
Prior to his deafh on October 11, Israel, was vomitting blood at his home. He was 68.
The actor had earlier sought help after his home in Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City, was totally razed. He lost everything and seemed to have fallen on hard times.
Despite losing almost everything, Israel said he has no regrets.
