Nearly 1 million people from different parts of the nation and the world gathered to celebrate Generation of Strengths last June 24. The parade started at 10:30AM with the same route as in June last year from Market Street along Beagle Street and ending at Eight Street.

Pride Parade was a strong showing of the LGBTQ community’s clamor for equality, love, legal rights and its views on immigration reform and other political issues that affected all ages and genders.

The parade was led by Dykes of Bikes, Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbian and Gays (PFLAG), others who carried signs showing how pride in what they are and the cause they embrace and the leather contingent who all took part in the 48th year of commemorating the SF pride parade.

SF Mayor London Breed; Lieutenant Gov. Gavin Newsom exclaimed, “the ability to live together across our differences is what makes the California or America great,” while 19th District Assembly Member Phil Ting said, “there is still a long way to go and many more things to fight for”.

Also, lending their support were: Assemblyman Rob Bonta, 17th District Assembly Member David Chui with the Gay Asian Pacific Alliance (GAPA), SEIU United Healthcare Workers West Sec. George Pastor and other personalities.

Pride parades are held across the nation in June each year. But the SF Pride parade is the largest gathering of LGBT people and their allies in the nation.
