In her recent Instagram post, Sarah Geronimo expressed her sentiment on ABS-CBN’s current plight as Congress junked its application for a franchise renewal.
“ABS-CBN is the network which gambled on me several times and supported me in my journey as a movie star and performer,” she avers.
“They embraced me and took very good care of me as if I’m their own daughter or homegrown talent. I owe this network a lot and I will forever be grateful to them for all the big breaks and opportunities and the trust that they’ve given me.”
It’s no secret that even if she’s a Kapamilya, Sarah’s career is being managed by Viva Artists Agency. But it is with ABS-CBN where she got really honed as a singer, actress, host and singing coach which catapulted her as an industry A-Lister.
“I love my ABS-CBN family. Each of their employees who are presently in pain due to losing their jobs is very important to me. I am one with them in their plea to bring the station back so they can also be back to work and continue to give service to their respective families and the whole nation in general.”
It’s clear that Sarah’s plea is full of diplomacy.
“I may not know the full detail why ABS-CBN wasn’t granted the franchise renewal. I may not understand everything but I would like to salute the pillars of the station for the decent fight and humility they’ve shown before our lawmakers.
“It’s really painful to be rejected but we continue to pray for our desire for ABS-CBN to be given another chance. A chance to make up if it has past misgivings and the chance to serve the Filipino people the best way it can.”
In the end, the popular singer-actress asks for oneness
“I appeal for the continuous unity of everybody especially now that the county is facing lots of challenges. I am Sarah Geronimo, not just a star but a Filipino citizen who feels and understands the situation of all who got affected by the pandemic Covid-19,” she ends.
