San Francisco, CA – May 23, 2016 was a double celebration for Goldilocks. They celebrated both its’ 50th anniversary and the grand opening of its’ new branch in Mission Street – Daly City. This is the 11th store of Goldilocks in the US and the 7th branch opened here in the Bay Area.
Friends, family, business associates, media partners and government dignitaries attended and enjoyed the festivities. Mike Guingona, 5-time Mayor of Daly City, Vice-Mayor David Canepa and also, Philippine Consul General, Henry S. Bensurto Jr., graced the event.
On May 15, 1966, Filipino-Chinese Sisters, Milagros Lemelin Yee and Clarita Lemelin Go, and their sister-in-law Doris Wilson Lemelin opened the first Goldilocks in Makati, Philippines. In 1976, Goldilocks opened its first US store in the city of angels, Los Angeles. In 1991, Goldilocks launched a franchising program which led to the opening of hundreds of Goldilocks’ store in Metro Manila. Eventually, more stores opened in Northern America and also, Canada.
Each visit at any Goldilocks branch definitely brings back childhood memories to Pinoys. When customers buy their product, they don’t merely get a delicious serving or dessert or a scrumptious dish, but they get a taste of something that is truly “Pinoy”. And for the past 5o years, Goldilocks has continuously shared their simple Filipino values to each customer: Thoughtfulness. Care. Love for family. Excellence. (Photo by Gary De Guzman)
