In a recent online interview, Pia Wurtzbach admitted that at present, she has no communications with Bea Alonzo whom she worked with in the ABS-CBN teen drama series “K2BU” in 2002. For those who don’t know yet, both are products of Star Magic. Bea was with Batch 10 while Pia was with Batch 11.
“Yes, we were together in ‘K2BU’ along with Shaina (Magdayao) and Angeline (Aguilar). Of course, I don’t get to talk to her these days because we’ve trekked different paths already,” she avers.
When was the last time that she saw Bea?
“It was at the 2019 Star Magic Ball. But it was very brief—I didn’t get to come close to say ‘Hi!’ to her, although I would like to greet and speak to her and reconnect again if she’s up to it!”
Up to this time, Bea remains as one of the Kapamilya Network’s premiere actresses while Pia grabbed the Miss Universe crown in 2015 and came back to the ‘biz soon after. It was learned that when Pia was given a grand homecoming by ABS-CBN in 2016, Bea extended her warm congratulations to the beauty queen-actress.
“During the event, her handler approached me and told me that Bea was extending her congratulations because of my victory as the new Miss Universe. I appreciated that. Our next meeting was in 2017, when we bumped into each other at the ABS-CBN building and had a picture together which was uploaded in Twitter by Star Magic.”
Comparing their showbiz career, it’s a fact that Bea has achieved more compared to her. As contemporaries, didn’t she feel any insecurity or envy whatsoever?
“When I joined Binibining Pilipinas, I haven’t thought of that anymore. It’s more like, I’ve already resigned to that fact. One more thing, it’s been a long time already. My focus was into a different direction already.”
Pia is aware that people have the impression that she feels envious of Bea.
“I think it all started when my life story was featured in ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’ in 2017 where Liza Soberano gave life to my character. I guess people got the impression that I was jealous or mad at her, but of course, it’s not true!”
For the 2015 Miss Universe, she has no ill feeling towards Bea.
“Honestly, I’m not jealous or what. As I’ve said, it’s been a long time. I don’t have any reason to feel that way. For one, Bea is really a good actress. She’s really good. I can’t compete in that department. I also had a different but wonderful journey in the field of beauty pageants,” ends Pia.
