James Reid admits he almost quit show business a lot of times in the past.

“That’s true!” he says. “Most of the time was before Nadine and I got together. That stage was probably the height of my depression. If you’ll remember, I received lots of bashing from the fans then because reports circulated that I was allegedly seen partying with different girls. Of course, the JaDine followers didn’t like it.”

What was he thinking then?

“I considered it seriously that I want to just drop everything and say goodbye. Back then, I was so affected by what the fans said. I was affected by what people were telling me on how to be me and what to do with my life”

It’s good his plan didn’t push through.

“I did some soul-searching during that period,” James reveals. “I flew to Japan for a short vacation. I just wanted to get away from the country, the fans and bashers alike. I went solo for said trip. I introspected there and it helped me a lot and made me see things in a much clearer, better and positive perspective.”

Interestingly, it was when he came back to the country that his relationship with Nadine became more intense.

“Yes! For one, with her, I didn’t need to pretend. I could just be myself completely. The kind when I can pick my nose in front of her. In the end, she became the only one I wanted to please.

“What I appreciate most about Nadine is that she helped me through the darkest time of my life, and I’ve been there for her, through hers. I’m more open now, so none of that stuff gets me anymore. I can say that I’m experiencing the best times of my life now.”

According to James, it was because of his girlfriend that he opted to continue his showbiz career.

“Nobody understands me the way Nadine does. I couldn’t talk to anyone else about my problems or hardships. Being able to share it with someone is good because I couldn’t just bottle it all up and try to forget it. Life doesn’t work that way. As they say, pain shared is half the pain.”

Meanwhile, the good-looking lad announces that he is okay in doing a film opposite Janella Salvador, Yassi Pressman, Liza Soberano and Kathryn Bernardo but has apprehensions with Julia Barretto. It can be remembered that he got lots of flaks from JaDine fans when a netizen was able to take a picture of them together in a bar in the past.

“Let’s just put it this way: I have no problem with her. But there’s too much noise when it comes to fans and stuff. Let’s just make life easy, okay!”

This early, the talented actor-singer is excited with his upcoming project opposite Momoland’s Nancy McDonie. It’s a drama series titled, “Soulmate” which will be under the helm of acclaimed director Antoinette Jadaone.

“Yes, and I appeal to the fans not to give color to our team-up. I hope they will not link me to her. It’s just work. It’s already 2019, the viewing public should let artists work together for the sake of working,” ends James.
