Undeniably, it’s Jericho Rosales’ season. Asia’s Prince of Dramas is on a career high at present with the success of his currently airing ABS-CBN soap opera titled, “Halik.” Echo has starred in a number of hit tele-seryes in the past like, “The Legal Wife”, “Forevermore”, “Pangako sa ‘Yo”, “Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas”, “Carlo J. Caparas’ Ang Panday”, “Bridges of Love”, “I Love Betty La Fea”, “Green Rose” and “Dahil May Isang Ikaw.”
“Halik” is no different as it continues to register high figures in the ratings chart and draws positive feedbacks for the acting of the four leads. Apart from Echo, the soap also features Sam Milby, Yam Concepcion and Yen Santos. As Lino, he sizzles on screen with his great acting chops. He always delivers in the countless confrontation and highly-dramatic scenes in the said soap which tackles infidelity, love and forgiveness.
What does he think is behind the success of his latest boob tube offering?
“Well, first of all, I’m grateful to the viewers for supporting our program,” says Jericho. “It also took us quite some time to establish. It feels great that at this point, many people are watching us religiously. It’s humbling.
“As to our success formula, I think one factor there is that the plot is not predictable. In every episode, there are fresh twists that excite our loyal followers that’s why they don’t miss watching.”
Their splendid acting is definitely a strong factor as well.
“Thank you! I agree. All of us are really collaborating in handling each character. In my case, I ask myself, where shall I take my role Lino?
“I take in for consideration the men’s perspective. We have lots of male viewers and they really follow every episode. They wait for my character’s decision in many crucial points in the story. That’s why I ask real people for their insights and comments. In that way, I’m guided in delineating my part!”
Many find their presentation and approach realistic.
“I guess true storytelling indeed plays a vital role why ‘Halik’ is presently enjoying tremendous popularity among the viewers. Actually, all of us in the production are mainly concerned on mounting each scene as realistic and relatable as possible where people won’t find it mawkish or corny. This is the reason why I give my all in my performance. If you’ll notice, the kind of acting I give in my movies, the same I give in ‘Halik.’ The bottom line is to give the audience the quality entertainment they deserve.”
Echo proudly announces that due to their good showing ratings-wise, the soap will be extended until the first quarter of 2019.
“I’m not just certain until when exactly but the production has asked for my taping schedules until March of next year. I was actually planning for a vacation by February but it seems it has to be re-scheduled with this development.”
It’s good that his wife Kim Jones is flexible when it comes to his showbiz commitments.
“Yes, it’s just okay with her if our vacation needs to be reset. Kim perfectly understands the demands of my job. She’s very supportive!”
Pondering upon his current situation, the handsome actor cannot ask for more and that’s what matters.
“Who wouldn’t be satisfied? I have a hit show in which the cast, directors and crew are all my friends. If you’ll only witness how relaxed and comfortable we are on the set. For me, it’s better than starting a new show which entails huge adjustment again. In here, we’re okay and we’re just working hard to give our audience quality entertainment,” ends Echo
