NAPA, Calif., – The City of Napa and the Napa Tourism Improvement District (TID) today announced the second annual Napa Lighted Art Festival taking place Jan. 12-20, 2019, in downtown Napa, the Oxbow District and other places within city limits. The free, open-air illuminating art festival will light up the streets, buildings and night sky with stunning animated artwork projected at approximately 16 locations after dark.

Artwork displayed at this year’s event will include light art, video art, 3D video mapping projections, lighted sculptures and projects that use technology and interactivity. Original work by local and international artists will be featured including UK-based artist Luke Jerram (Museum of the Moon) and Birgit Zander (Language of Love) from Germany.

The festival program also includes technology of projected art discussions at the Symposium Series, Art After Dark with the Rails Art District (RAD) featuring six illuminated murals along the famous Vine Trail and live music performances throughout the nine-day event.

New this year are the Lantern Parade and Night Bloom events. The Napa Lighted Art Festival will feature two weekends of evening hot air balloon shows at Oxbow Commons Jan. 12-13 and Jan. 19-20 at 7 p.m. The Lantern Parade will take visitors and locals through a procession of art installations featuring their own lanterns starting at Veteran’s Park Jan. 18 at 6:30 p.m.

“Napa’s Lighted Art Festival is a celebration of creative arts, technology and lights. It’s also a great way to combine art with live entertainment and delicious food in one of California’s most iconic settings, downtown Napa,” said Reynaldo Zertuche, chairman of City of Napa Tourism Improvement District. “The festival is designed for children and adults of all ages and is a truly unique experience that deserves a spot on everyone’s bucket list this winter.”

Visitors and locals alike can enjoy art after dark 6 – 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 and 19, Sunday, Jan. 13 and 20, and 6 – 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14 through Thursday, Jan. 17.
